概して言えば、親子の関係は本質的には教えることを基礎としている。我々の多くはこのことを忘れている。それが愛情にもとづくと考える人もいれば、しつけに基づくと考える人もいる。しかし、子供が受け入れることができる限りの愛情を注いでも、その子を世の中に直面することもできないような愚かな人間にしてしまうこともある。一方、子供をしつけるもっともよい、そして最も確実な方法は、守らせようと思う規則を説明することである。

To say generally, relationship between parents and children is based on teaching in essence. Most of parents often forget this. Some think the relationship is based on love, others think it is based on upbringing. However, if parents give children however many love the children can get, parents would make them too foolish to face the real world. On the other hand, the best and most sure way to bring up them is to explain the reason of the rule parents want to follow.
