第二次世界大戦で破壊されたのに、古い写真をもとに完全に復元されたと知って驚きました。 私は市民の誇りと情熱に強く心を打たれ、言葉を失いました。この時ほど伝統を守ることの意義を痛切に感じたことはありません。

みたいなところ。

なので、ここはsquare, common squareなどとするのがいいでしょう。

(D)surroundingは形容詞でもあるので、
surrounding historical structures
とするのが自然です。

(E)citizen's pride and passion
関係詞を使って複雑な文章にする必要はなく、
所有格でシンプルに表現できます。

(F)「この時ほど伝統を守ることの意義を痛切に感じたことはありません」
-->「このときまで～を感じたことはなかった」
と言い換えて、

とするのがよいと思います。
