客を招いたら、まず住居のすべての部屋を案内してまわるのが、欧米の通例である。ドイツの友人宅でも、寝室から地下の作業室兼物置に至るまで案内されたが、どの部屋も清潔で整然としているのに圧倒された。以前その夫妻をわが家に招いたおり、もっぱら座敷に閉じ込め、他の部屋など見せるどころではなかったのが、今思うとはずかしい気がする。

と表現してもいいでしょう。

(E)working placeは母音からはじまってはいないので、

(G)good --> nice
goodは質が良い悪いということに言及するので不自然に感じました。
niceは、上手に、うまく、きれいになどの意味があり、
ここではこちらのほうがあっています。

(H)過去形
過去一点のことを述べているだけなので過去完了にする必要はありません。
「招待する」というのは継続されていた状態ではないですね。

(I)家の他の部屋は見せられる状況とはかけはなれていた」
と言い換えて訳すとわかりやすいです。
