隣家の犬はふだんは愛想がいいが、飼い主が近くにいると、大きな声で必死にほえる。番犬の勤めを果たそうとしているのだろうか。しかし、そのしっぽはと見ると、いつも通り、ちぎれんばかりに振られている。どうやら、これは私の本心ではありませんよ、とさりげなく伝えようとしているようだ。けなげさに思わず頭をなでてやりたくなるときもあるが、やめておいたほうがよさそうだ。

Although a dog whom a family live in next house to mine has is often affable in manner, when the dog's owner is nearby him, he barks desperately. I think that is as if he works his business. Looking his tail, I find it waved as usual. It seems that he casually says it is not my true thought. I sometimes want to chuck his head, but to do nothing might be better for him.

(A)関係詞の使い方が不適切です。
dog's familyなので、所有格の関係詞whoseを使います。

next door

でも、関係詞を使わずに、ずっとすっきり表現できます。

人 + next door の形でお隣の、隣に住むという意味になります。
（人だけでなく動物でもok）
e.x.
The woman next door gave me some flowers.
お隣のおばさんから花をもらった。

(B)言い換え表現
フレンドリーだ　といってもいいですね。
「普段は」usually, normally, generally など。

(C)逆説butが必要

(D)代名詞を使ってhis ownerとするのが自然です。
nearby himのhimは省略できます。

(E)「番犬の勤めを果たそうとしているのだろうか」

「番犬」　guard dog house dog watch dog　など
「～しようとする」try to do...
「勤めを果たす」perform one's duty
これらの表現をつかうのが最も自然でしょう。

(F)逆説の接続副詞　Howeverをいれました。

(G)Look at...前置詞を補いました。

(H)find it 形容詞または動名詞というかたちをとります。

(I)「さりげなく伝えようとしている」
「～しようとしている」be trying to do...
「伝える」ここでは間接話法なので、sayではなくtellをつかいます。前回の添削と同じ指摘ですね。

(J)間接話法なので、主語はhisにすべきです。
直接話法の場合は、こうなります。

It seems that he is casually trying to say, "it is not my true intention."

「本心」--->「本意」といいかえて、
true intentionとしてもいいでしょう。

(K)やめておいたほうがよさそうだ。
it may be better not to.
I think I should not do.
などの表現が自然です。
