世界には文字を持たない言語がたくさんあるらしい。毎日文字に囲まれて暮らしている私たちからすれば、さぞ不便なことだろうと思ってしまいがちだ。しかし、文字があろうがなかろうが、ことばの基本的な働きに変わりはない。文字のある言語のほうがない言語より優れているなどと考えるのは、とんでもない思い上がりだろう。

(1) 近年、電子書籍の普及が急速に進んできた。アメリカほどではないが、日本でも、パソコンや耳慣れない機器で文章を読む機会は増える一方である。しかし、中高年層に限らず、紙の本でないとどうも読んだ気がしないという人も多い。論文でも小説でも普通にコンピュータで執筆される時代だけれども、きちんと製本された真新しい本には、何とも言えない味わいがあるらしい。

not only ～ を使う表現であれば「中高年層にだけでなく、若い年齢層にも…」としたほうがより自然な気がします。


(E)ニュアンス
書かれた英文ですと「紙で作られた本を読まなければ、本当に読んでいるんだろうか」というような感じのニュアンスになります。

(...some people) say they don't feel that they are reading books unless they actually read paper books

とすれば、「紙の本を読まない限り、本を読んでいる感じ・気がしない（という人もいる）」というニュアンスになります。


(F)接続詞
文頭に although（～だけれども）を置くとうまくまとまると思います。

new books *make* in a careful manner
make → made になりますが「慎重に作られた本」という表現になります。

動詞 bind（本などを製本する）の過去分詞 bound を使って、neatly bound new books とすれば「きちんと製本された新しい本」という意味を表すことが可能です。


今回の先生の添削は見づらかったかな。
でも和文和訳はとても参考になった。
この問題結構和文和訳で苦戦した。

教育とは何かと考えるときに、私が決まって思い出すのが小学校の恩師の顔である。先生は、私たち生徒に、物事に真剣に取り組むことを教えてくださった。その教えは、これまでの私の人生の指針となっている。今から考えると、先生の教えが私の心に響いたのは、先生の尊敬できる誠実な人柄によるところが大きかったように思う。教育において考慮すべきことは、教える内容だけではなく、教える側の人間性でもあるのだ。

今回日本語訳はつけずに出した（e-mailプランでだした）ので日本語課題文をつけることが抱きなかった。文法で明らかにおかしいところのみを指摘してもらった形になる。

e-mailプランがキャンペーンで安かったので使用してみたが、日本語訳をつけれないと、

課題文→和文和訳→英訳の過程でどんどん伝えるべき情報が薄れてしまうので、

うまく和文和訳できずに英訳した個所はスルーされてしまうため表現の幅を増やす用途には向いていなかった。

(A)「消されることはない」are never vanished 
「消えることはない」never vanish 
どちらかの表現が適切です。 

(C)Powerは不可算名詞ですが、形容詞がつき具体的になることによって、可算名詞扱いとなります。

降ろしてください！」と叫んでいた。そしてたちまちのうちに私の目の前から姿を消した。忘れ物
でもしたのだろうか？だとしたら、あの必死の形相からして、よほど大事なものだったに違いない。

今日、睡眠不足は見過ごせない問題となっている。原因の一つは、社会全体が深夜も多くの人が起きていることを想定して動いていることである。照明器具の発達も、我々の体内時計を狂わせているのかもしれない。その一方で、多くの学校や会社の始まる時間は変わっていない。こうして睡眠不足が生まれやすくなり、日中の集中力の低下を引き起こすのだ。

『体内時計を作動させない」という意味で、

英語としては正しいですが、日本語にはあまり忠実とはいえにですね。



ここではdisrupt「混乱させる」という動詞をつかって

表現してみました。



(D)「その結果として集中力が低下する」

it results in decrease in concentration

it results in poor concentration

などの言い方がいいと思います。


they focus on their tasks

「仕事に集中する」

だと日本語の文と反対のことを言ってしまっています。
